It gives me great pleasure to open bookings for our next concert, which will be another evening of great Piano Trios, performed by the Eilean Piano Trio, whose members are Yoko Misumi (Piano), Colin Scobie (Violin), and Heather Tuach (‘Cello).

Eilean (pronounced “Ellen”) is the Gaelic word for Island. They chose it as the name for their Trio because they all come from large islands: Newfoundland, Japan and Britain!

Although the Eilean Piano Trio has been recently formed, its individual performers are star players in their own right, and all three have previously performed in our Maxability concerts. Both Heather and Colin perform with the Fitzwilliam String Quartet (which, incidentally, will be playing here on 14th October 2017), and many of you will remember Yoko’s fine performances as the pianist in the Greenwich Piano Trio.

It is wonderful that these fine musicians are now coming together to form a new Piano Trio, and I have no doubt, having heard them many times, that the Eilean will have a demanding schedule and a full concert diary.

And what a programme they have put together for their inaugural Maxability concert!

Hold your breath:

Piano Trio No.1 in B Major, Op 8 — BRAHMS

Nocturne for Piano Trio in E Flat, D 897 (“Notturno”) — SCHUBERT

Piano Trio No.2 in E Minor, Op 67 — SHOSTAKOVICH
